AirTrunk sinks $1bn into second 110 MW Sydney data centre

Privately held data centre developer AirTrunk has ploughed $1 billion into snapping-up a sizeable four hectare lot in Sydney’s premium priced north to build a new facility so big and power hungry it will boast its own substation to pump out 110 MW of load.

Predictably named SYD2, the new facility is set to open to initial customers in 2020 as industrial and large retail customers become increasingly cloud centric, placing pressure on space constrained inner city locations increasingly being eyed off by residential strata developers.
